THE TRUTH ABOUT COURAGE | ConfidentlyKim

Courage is a very big word.

Courage is very often associated with overcoming big hurdles and achieving big goals. But nobody ever talks about the initial step of courage that is taken and the process that courage goes through before the big end result.

It takes a large amount of courage to be honest with yourself. It takes a lot of courage to be truthful about the things that you have done wrong and to admit them not only to other people but more importantly to yourself. It requires a different level of courage to own up and acknowledge the mistakes, the poor choices and the bad calls that you have made in your life, being honest enough to recognise the impact or effect it has had on others and even in the path that your life could’ve taken.

Sometimes we need to take a step back and evaluate ourselves, to look back open-minded and honestly consider the choices that we made many years ago. This isn’t”crying over spilt milk” but to look at another angle of your own perspective and to really get to the root of some of the situations you are going through right now. Some of the things we are facing are because of a choice we made for ourselves many years ago and now they are hindering our futures.

This can apply to any area of your life whether it be financial management (did I really need that credit card?), relationships (was I ready for marriage?), jobs and ambition (why can’t I hold down a job?), friends & circle (why don’t I have any good friends?), relationship with God (what was my real reason for getting saved?). This courage can be applied to so many areas.

In order for us to move forward and achieve something new, we can’t keep doing the same things hoping for different results, but how will we know what do better if we haven’t been honest about what went wrong. This takes courage

Sometimes we are guarded and defensive blocking others out, due to the pain of our past, but ultimately our walls block us into our situations and our mistakes, and there can seem like there is no way out.

I know how this feels, I’m there right now

Hiding behind the walls I’ve created to protect myself.

But I’m coming out

On my walls, I am writing my plans. I’m taking time to look back through my life. I am writing down my dreams, my goals and my hopes for the future. I’m consciously identifying where I went wrong, and with my goals in view, I am making a plan of how I am going to get there. With every day as I reach closer and closer to my goals, I am bringing down my wall brick by brick. I refuse to define myself by my past and the mistakes I once made, but because of God I have hope that my life has an expected end.

I hope this encourages someone out there. Write on your walls, write your plan. It doesn’t matter how big or small your goals are, you could be saving to buy your own home or just simply learning how to say NO, they are both still goals and both take courage to see them through. Remember, There is HOPE!

“And then GOD answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.” Habbakuk 2:2-3 MSG
